Reviews and Compilation

Reviews

A reviewed financial report provides financial statement users with limited assurance as to the plausibility of the information being reported. While it is less in scope than an audit, it involves making inquiries of management and performing analytical procedures regarding the company’s financial statements. This service is often requested by a company’s bank or other lender or managing board. A review engagement must be performed by a licensed Certified Public Accountant.

Compilations

A compilation is a CPA- prepared financial statement that is usually requested for internal purposes, but may also be requested by third- party financial statement users like a company’s bank. They are based upon information provided by a company’s management and they do not offer any level of assurance on the financial statements. They are the most basic level of service CPA’s can provide for CPA- issued financial statements.
